Justice and Peace Group
The Justice & Peace group raises awareness of justice and peace issues affecting those locally as well as nationally and globally. We try to put our Faith into Action through different acts and campaigns related to justice and peace. Bishop Patrick talks of this as missionary discipleship.
We are currently working in several key areas, in some cases with local agencies and also with the Diocesan Justice & Peace Commission.
Environmental issues – care for our common home
Asylum seekers and refugee
Human trafficking & slavery
Ethical purchasing
Peace and disarmament
Homelessness
Isolation

We are part of the Nottingham Diocese COVID Catholic Partnership which was awarded a grant from the Albert Gubay Charitable Trust to alleviate suffering and food poverty during the COVID19 pandemic. We have been supporting local food banks to provide a range of diverse foods to their clients.
Several of the group are participating in the sharing of ideas and skills development to support a changed church community post pandemic and lockdown. This is led at the Diocese level by Caritas Social Action Network.
We started in 2015 and have grown in number. We meet about 6 times each year to discuss our work and to share ideas. We also communicate by email and have a Whatsapp group. We welcome anyone who has an interest in justice and peace issues.
